A VERY INTERESTING OPENING CEREMONY
The Osgood Center of International Studies and POLITIKUM held a joint opening ceremony to inaugurate the 2022 Texas Model United Nations and The Lost Committees respectively.
During the ceremony, Marie Giebler, Secretary General of POLITIKUM The Lost Committees and Megan Finkbeiner addressed interesting speeches, encouraging all students to find solutions for the different kind of topics that both conferences proposed.
The key note speaker of the ceremony was Professor Jeremi Suri, who talked about the work that the United Nations does around the world, its main challenges nowadays and the importance of the organization for the international community.
At the end of the evening, all the Directors of both simulations share some words with the delegates, before the Secretaries General declare the conferences open.
THE UNITED NATIONS PERMANENT FORUM ON INDIGENOUS ISSUES
1. WAS ESTABLISHED ON JULY 28, 2000 WITH A MANDATE TO REVIEW INDIGENOUS ISSUES.
2. IT IS AN ADVISORY BODY OF THE ECONOMIC AND SOCIAL COUNCIL (ECOSOC).
3. RAISES AWARENESS AND PROMOTES INTEGRATION AND COORDINATION OF ACTIVITIES RELATED TO INDIGENOUS ISSUES WITHIN THE UNITED NATIONS SYSTEM.
COP 27 - ERSTEN SITZUNGEN
Die COP 27 ist heute erfolgreich in ihre 1. Sitzung gestartet und hat sich nach spannenden Diskussionen darauf geeinigt, zuerst das Thema “Nachhaltiger Konsum in der Modebranche: Die Rolle der Zivilgesellschaft” zu besprechen.
Es wurden erste konkrete Vorschläge und Lösungsansätze eingebracht, die nun debattiert werden.”
